Sarah, Mike and I have tested all kinds of products, especially skin care and ingrown hair products. The results we've gotten have been piss poor to okay to gold star products. It's been really fulfilling to pass on the gold star products, so people won't have to waste there time on the junk out there. The following is a review of a Home Electrolysis Solution for permanent hair removal.

First the back story. As you know, all of us are out there on the net every day doing research. Sarah has been investigating electrolysis and laser hair removal. She is uncomfortable with some visible areas that have to be constantly shaved for appearance sake. Also there are a few areas that are a pain in the ... to maintain.

Laser hair removal is a bit pricey. Electrolysis can be pricey and it uses... needles... not for Sarah! Sarah belongs to about a dozen forums. On one skin care forum people were raving about the Verseo ePen and how effective it was with no needles necessary. The rave reviews and the ease of use, peaked Sarah's interest. Especially, since the cost was reasonable and nowhere near the cost of other treatments available. Sarah is, let's just say...cost conscious.

She did some research and found a University of Utah study on the effectiveness of the ePen and electrolysis in general. Basically, it was just as effective as the clinic treatments. The ePen used no needles and used the same amount of electrical current that the fancy and higher priced clinics electrolysis machines used. She did some more research and decided to give it a shot.

I took the before pictures and told her I'd write up the results of the test, if the ePen worked. She ordered the ePen and some conductive gel for spot treatments. The information that came was easy to follow and the ePen was simple to use. The info basically said that hair grows in two week cycles. We have 75 hair follicles per square inch of skin. So, every two weeks you would have to treat the new hair growth to be effective. That meant it would take between six to eight weeks to kill all the the hair follicles and prevent hair growth. She felt the reasonable cost and ease of use was worth the trouble.

Sarah did a patch test on her inner arm, twice in one week. She had no adverse skin reaction and she said all she felt was a slight tingling. She had decided to use the banana patch to treat her upper lip and the rectangular patches to do the bikini area and cotton bud attachment to treat the area around of her eyebrows that was always sprouting unwanted hair. Actually the ePen and attachments looked pretty scientific and you just hooked up a couple of electrodes to the patches to treat larger areas. The cotton bud attachment was easy to use and you just put it on the area you want to treat. Sarah was ready to go!

As directed Sarah treated the areas twice a week. The larger areas took six minutes and the cotton bud attachment was used for 23 second treatments. The patches were all reusable so it was fairly simple.

Two Week Results- You could tell the already treated hair. It was thin and it curled up and fell out while she was bathing. Some remaining dead hair was just plucked out with her fingers, they came out easily with no pain. She treated the new hair growth.

Four Week Reults- The results were still good with most of the hair shriveling up and falling out as she bathed. The ePen was doing an effective job of getting rid of the hair growth.

Six Week Results- She had alot less new hair growth to treat this time. The old hairs were still dying out and coming out with no help needed. She continued the twice a week treatments.

Eight Week Results- Sarah had virtually no new hair growth anywhere. The dead hairs had already come out in her normal bathing routine. She was pretty excited about not having to shave!

We waited one more month and took pictures and evaluated the results of the test of the ePen. Her bikini area was clear of any new hair growth, but had very light fuzz. Her upper lip had no new hair growth and no fuzz. The eyebrow areas she had treated had no returning hair in the areas treated. Sarah felt the ePen was a great product and worked the way it said it would. Well worth the money and time invested. She gave it four and a half stars, only because although it worked great, it did take 8 weeks. But no needles... and no pain. Also a Home Electrolysis unit was a real time and cost saver.

Sarah felt the ePen was really effective. Looking back she wished she had upgraded to the ePen Pro which has a built in timer and skin connectivity sensor which would would have made it all easier. The patches with connectors lasted through the whole test, which she thought was as promised. Sarah highly recommends the Verseo ePen- 4 1/2 Stars
